Virtual Tour Open Day – St John Fisher Catholic High School, Harrogate

Posted by on Oct 20, 2020 in Blog | 0 comments

With Coronavirus restrictions preventing parents visiting the school St John Fisher contacted me to shoot a virtual tour of the key departments and facilities.

Information points and videos were added to bring the tour to life.

The virtual tour was shot using a Matterport Pro2 camera.

Craig Ritchie, Head of Marketing at St John Fisher Catholic High School, kindly sent this comment:

“Hi Sam, the tour has come out really well and we’ve had some great feedback.  Thanks for all your work on the day – really good working with you.”

Shibden Hall Virtual Tours

Extremely interesting commission from a company that specialises in the design and development of bespoke interactives and AV solutions for Museums, Galleries, Heritage Sites and Exhibitions.

Shibden Hall in Halifax, West Yorkshire, was the home of Anne Lister whose recently found diaries were brought to life in the BBC drama Gentleman Jack.

I shot tours of the interior and exterior of Shibden Hall plus the Aisled Barn which houses the carriages.

Information points and videos were added and the three virtual tours have been incorporated into the Calderdale Museum website:

A really interesting job!

Press picture to promote the forthcoming Spring Harrogate Flower Show.  It’s celebrating its centenary and Fiona Fisk, Floral Art Co-ordinator for Harrogate Flower Shows, recreates the 1953 launch of the first Flower Academy at the Sun Pavilion in Valley Gardens, Harrogate, by society florist Constance Spry. The Academy was the forerunner of what is now Britain’s largest exhibition of floral art held each year at the Harrogate Spring Flower Show.

2020 Christmas and Gift Fair Harrogate

The Christmas and Gift Fair takes place in early January to allow buyers a full year to prepare orders for the following Christmas.  With the celebrations just over it always feels strange to be surrounded by so many festive items once again but at least people are still in a happy mood!

Twentieth year covering the Church of England General Synod in York for the Church Times newspaper.  In recent years air conditioning has been introduced in the main auditorium.  Before, there was a tendency for delegates to nod off on hot afternoons.

I’ve covered the BCTF for several years now at the Yorkshire Event Centre, Harrogate.  It’s always an eclectic mix of niche hand-made products, this year was no exception.  There’s a lot of talented folk out there!

Hunters Estate Agent Annual Conference 2019

Third year of covering the Hunters Conference in York.  It’s an action-packed day with presentations, workshops, keynote addresses and an exhibition all served up in an informative and humorous package.  The keynote address was given by BBC TV news reporter Frank Gardner who was shot whilst covering an assignment in 2004.  He’s a keen photographer and we chatted briefly about the photos he taken on a recent trip to Laos. An inspirational man.
